Occasionally, we will add various graphs and tunes we have undertaken for our clients as a testament to our efforts which you can find here:

SEAT Leon 2.0TDI CR184

Type: SEAT
Fuel: Diesel
Engine Management: Bosch EDC17C64
Tune Type: Standard Vehicle (Stage 1)
Before: 184 BHP / 296 lbft
After: 221 BHP 365 lbft
Percentage Gains: +20% BHP and +23% Torque

We wrote a custom stage 1 for this lovely Leon 2.0 diesel with the CUPA engine- as with the Skoda Octavia a few posts below this sports the EDC17C64 management and in some senses can be quite tricky simply because of the amounts of maps to change, torque monitoring and airflow control strategy which is collectively makes for quite a lot of work. That said we made some very reasonable gains, and lifted her from mid 184bh to over 220bhp which will be very noticable and really improve acceleration and overtaking power.

To gain more power we need to see further mods such as DPF work, a larger turbocharger to lower EGT’s and improve airflow, but for now this is a good result!

FORD Fiesta 1.6 TDCI 95HP

Type: Ford Fiesta
Fuel: Diesel
Engine Management: Bosch EDC17C10
Tune Type: Standard Vehicle (Stage 1)
Before: 100 BHP / 181 lbft
After: 129 BHP 225 lbft
Percentage Gains: +29% BHP and +24% Torque

Tuning this Ford was interesting because it had already been remapped when it was brought to us. You can see on the dyno graph the original power on the dyno (we checked it with an original map on) was 100bhp, and with the unknown remap on it produced circa 117bhp.

Given the vehicle was in good condition it isn’t known why this gain was restricted, it could have been a generic, poor map or just the previous owners preference to not push it too hard, however the current customer wanted more, and as more was possible without pushing too hard we did some data logging, made a base map and ultimately netted 12bhp more – which isn’t earth shattering but for such a small diesel engine very much noticeable and, in our totally unbiased opinion, much needed.

VW Caddy Van 2.0TDI CR 150

Type: VW Caddy
Fuel: Diesel
Engine Management: Bosch EDC17C64/74
Tune Type: Standard Vehicle (Stage 1)
Before: 152 BHP / 255 lbft
After: 181 BHP 301 lbft
Percentage Gains: +19% BHP and +18% Torque

This is the 150 CR variant used by many of the VAG group 2.0 diesels after 2014 – it used Bosch engine management (C64/74 typically) which can be quite time intensive to tune but makes for some noticable and pleasant increases in both torque and power without pushing things excessively towards the limits and maintains fuel economy despite the extra poke.

Skoda Octavia Common Rail 2.0TDi CR 184

Type: Skoda Octavia
Fuel: Diesel
Engine Management: Bosch EDC17C64/74
Tune Type: Standard Vehicle (Stage 1)
Before: 185 BHP / 300 lbft
After: 224 BHP 341 lbft
Percentage Gains: +21% BHP and +13% Torque

These engines are not the easiest to work with and there’s a lot to adjust to make gains, however even in stage 1 form they respond quite strongly and make a reasonable gain across the rev range topping out generally between 215 and 225hp. This example (which was a Skoda Octavia) did rather well for itself hitting 224bhp without difficulty.

VW Golf Common Rail 2.0TDi 110

Type: VW Golf
Fuel: Diesel
Engine Management: Bosch EDC17CP14
Tune Type: Standard Vehicle (Stage 1)
Before: 121 BHP / 205 lbft
After: 184 BHP 293 lbft
Percentage Gains: +52% BHP and +42% Torque

The engine on the VAG Group CR110 range is very detuned from factory allowing for some nice gains on the dyno. In this case the vehicle performed very strongly even standard, however some serious gains were made in excess of 50% of power and 40% of torque.

Ford Fiesta 1.4 TDI 90BHP

Type: Ford Fiesta 1.4 Diesel
Fuel: Diesel
Engine Management: Bosch EDC17C10
Tune Type: Stage 1 with Turbocharger from Ford 1.6 Diesel Fitted (Custom spec)
Before: 97 BHP / 149 lbft
After: 115 BHP 196 lbft
Percentage Gains: +18% BHP and +31% Torque

This Fiesta was a bit special – it had a turbocharger from the larger 1.6 engine fitted but only required a safe stage 1 level of tune as further modifications were to be added further down the line to allow for more boost and prepare for more serious gains. We tuned this and managed to gain some respectable increases, particular in torque and a much wider operating rev range though I expect we will see the vehicle again when the owner is ready to really make the larger turbo do some work.
